Samuel Adams: More Than A Beer
Published : October 20, 2017
It was in his Puritan Christian home and at the Christian college of Harvard where Adams learned that the rights of life and liberty did not derive from government but from Almighty God. In his classic essay, “The Rights of the Colonists,” Adams declares in classic republican philosophical form:
“In the state of nature every man is, under God, judge and sole judge of his own rights and of the injuries done him … The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave ... These may be best understood by reading and carefully studying the institutes of the great Law Giver and Head of the Christian Church, which are to be found clearly written and promulgated in the New Testament.”
Adams’ classic and Christian education at home and at Harvard was emblematic of our Founding Fathers classic and Christian worldview which in the 1776 Declaration of Independence declares to the world the self-evident truth that the “Laws of Nature and Nature’s God … our Creator … the Supreme Judge of the world” is the source of our life, liberty, equality and rights.
In 1776, our Founders were proclaiming a universal reality birthed in heaven and fought for here on earth with blood, sweat, toil and tears.
So while Adams, John Adams, James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, et al., established this classic and Christian foundation of our republic under God, gradually by the mid-twentieth century education in our nation had drastically changed due to the influence of progressive, socialist, anarchist, Marxist and French academics who had permeated the universities of American, from Columbia University in New York to UC-Berkeley in California.
A perfect contemporary example of this paradigmatic worldview shift has been seen in the world of the NFL, where Colin Kaepernick, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, in 2016 decided to disrespect our republic’s national anthem by taking a knee.
How is it that Kaepernick, born and raised in his early years in a loving Wisconsin conservative and Christian home by Americans of European heritage, can accept the bogus premise that America is an evil nation full of white privilege and racism?
In a word: Education. Left-wing university indoctrination education.
When Kaepernick moved to San Francisco he began to audit Neo-Marxist classes at UC-Berkeley that taught him Marxism and Critical Race Theory, a bogus theory where Kaepernick was taught that all that is bad in America derives from Americans of European and Christian heritage.
Sadly the “Colin-ization” of our nation wears down the foundation of our republic. For those of us who love the Unites States of America, we must be dedicated to a new birth of freedom and recapture the wisdom of Sam Adams and our Founding Fathers.
