Democrat Party’s Radical Shift Predicted 50 Years Ago

In 1968, the Democrat Party was divided on how to run the Vietnam War, which had already amassed a death toll 28,000 Americans, who were trying to stop the spread of communism in Vietnam. While there were a significant number of anti-communist Democrats in 1968, the party began to see a growing number of progressives, socialists and communists assimilating into their ranks.
Across college campuses, many members of the college Democrat groups joined with Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). This hardcore leftist group showed up at Chicago’s Grant Park near International Amphitheatre, the location of the 1968 convention. Many members were carrying Communist, Socialist and anarchist flags, along with pictures of infamous communists such as Che Guevara, Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong. The radicals were ready to express their disappointment with their party and called for a communist revolution in the streets of America.
In the end, the Democrat establishment won, nominating President Lyndon B. Johnson’s Vice President Hubert Humphrey, who eventually lost to Richard Nixon in the 1968 presidential election.
Now fast forward 40 years to the election of Barack Obama in 2008. Many of those radical Democrat communists, socialists, and progressives who were at the riots in Chicago’s Grant Park, and involved in many militant activities across America in the late sixties and seventies, were also in Chicago’s Grant Park with Barack Obama celebrating his 2008 presidential victory.
Many of those Democrat radicals “grew up” to become professors and friends of Obama. They had a profound part in turning government education into leftwing indoctrination and helped turn the Democrat Party from its moderate Harry S. Truman and John F. Kennedy base to the hard left. It is no coincidence that a few weeks after President Obama was sworn in, the Feb. 16, 2009, cover of Newsweek magazine declared, “We Are All Socialists Now.”
In 2016, proud Socialist Bernie Sanders was robbed of the Democrat presidential nomination by the corrupt progressive Hillary Clinton machine. Sanders represented the growing popularity of socialism within the Democrat Party and especially with millennials, who are attracted to socialism’s sugar-coated promises of free stuff, all while knowing little of socialism demands of the hard working American people.
In June of this year, the political world was shocked when Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old socialist and naive political neophyte, defeated longtime establishment Democrat Joe Crowley in the primary for the 14th congressional district in New York City. Ocasio-Cortez is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), and accordingly, believes in the abolishment of capitalism, favoring instead an economy controlled by the workers or the state. While Ocasio-Cortez has become the darling of late night talk shows and elite media pundits, all the while being spoofed by conservative commentators such as Allie Stuckey and Ben Shapiro, she is a haunting harbinger of things possibly coming to America.
Author and political activist Trevor Loudon chronicles the assimilation and infiltration of communists, socialists and progressives into the Democrat Party and specifically into the United States Congress in his 2015 book and subsequent documentary, The Enemies Within.
“[The] Constitution has never been under more threat than it is today,” Loudon writes in the introduction to the book. “That threat is primarily internal … The U.S. Constitution is being destroyed before our eyes by the ‘Enemies Within.’”
They may not have realized the history behind the radicalization of the Democrat Party, but when Sanders and Clinton were defeated in 2016, many Americans woke up and realized that the darkness and corruption of the D.C. swamp was so deep that it was about to destroy the land Americans love so much.
