Oops! Feds Probe Princeton After Admission of “Systemic Racism”

Fringe leftwing college bosses are finally being hoisted by their own petard! The overpriced daycare center formerly known as Princeton University, for instance, is in big trouble with the federal government after its progressive virtue signaling on "racism" contradicted its own sworn statements claiming to the feds that the institution did not discriminate on the basis of race. Oops!

Now, the U.S. Department of Education wants answers. And the action now has other overpriced indoctrination centers and daycare facilities masquerading as institutions of "higher learning" freaking out. They are wondering whether they could be the next ones to find themselves in the Trump administration's cross-hairs for lying about their compliance with the 1964 Civil Rights Act governing discrimination at federally funded institutions.

It was Princeton President Christopher Eisgruber who really stepped in it and got busted in early September. He claimed that "racism and the damage it does to people of color nevertheless persist at Princeton as in our society, sometimes by conscious intention but more often through unexamined assumptions and stereotypes, ignorance or insensitivity, and the systemic legacy of past decisions and policies."

In short, according to the head of the university, racism and discrimination based on race exists at Princeton by "conscious intention." That means racists working in decision-making posts at the racist school are making racist decisions. And yet, when begging the federal government for more tax money under Title IV, Princeton consistently swears that it does NOT discriminate based on race.

U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is now taking action to deal with this admitted (and illegal) tax-funded racism and discrimination at Princeton. "It is a very serious matter," DeVos explained during an interview with the Chris Stigall Show airing in Philadelphia. Fines and potential efforts to recover federal funds could be coming soon, she warned.

And it is a very serious matter. Either Princeton was lying to the federal government while seeking to misappropriate tax funds taken from the American people, or the president was lying about the "conscious" racism that permeates the university. Princeton cannot simultaneously be racist and non-racist, obviously, except in the insane post-modern world of cognitive dissonance fostered by modern academia.

In a brilliant letter to the Princeton boss, the U.S. Department of Education warned that his racism comments represent a "serious, even shocking" admission. This "compel[led] the Department to move with all appropriate speed" to investigate whether Princeton, which has received more than $75 million just under title IV since 2013, is violating federal anti-discrimination statutes.

Among other demands, the feds are asking to interview Princeton employees under oath. They are also seeking a list of everyone who has been discriminated against at Princeton on the basis of race in the last five years. And the department wants records relating to the chief's claims about racism "embedded" within the university.

"You have the requirement every year, that every higher ed institution - that has any kind of federal funding going to it - must certify and declare annually that they do not discriminate and that they follow all civil rights laws," explained DeVos on radio. "And then, on the other hand, you have an institution whose leader says 'we are inherently, systemically racist.' Those two cannot exist together."

But Princeton is trying to have its Marxist Critical Race Theory cake and eat it too. In its response to the federal investigation, the university claims it complies with all applicable federal statutes banning discrimination in federally funded institutions, but that it also stands by its claims that the university is awash in systemic racism. Only a PhD from a modern university could believe something so stupid.

Almost 100 other university presidents - mostly far-left radicals and extremists - are begging the U.S. Department of Education not to proceed with its investigation of the admitted racism and race-discrimination of Princeton. Perhaps the lunatics running the academia asylum have finally realized they are being hoisted by their own petard. But that does not mean they will stop.

The Takeaway:

More than a few voices have called the Department of Education's action "trolling." However, in reality, the department is obligated by federal statute to take these actions. Hopefully this absurdity will mark the beginning of the end of the tax-funded idiocy masquerading as "higher learning" in America. But don't hold your breath.
