The most powerful union in America’s Rhode Island affiliate is suing a concerned mother for trying to pry loose records on the indoctrination materials being used in tax-funded government schools, sparking outrage and scandal nationwide. The mom, Nicole Solas, responded to the union retaliation like a boss: “Game on.”
In total, the National Education Association Rhode Island (NEARI) has filed two lawsuits against the mom. The first seeks to block public disclosure of the propaganda being force-fed to victims of government schools in the state — namely, captive children. The other suit seeks a “restraining order” against Solas, who described it as “bullying.”
The saga began when Solas found out her daughter’s government kindergarten was no longer referring to children as “boys” or “girls,” according to news reports. When she tried to get access to the materials being used in the classroom, officials told her to submit public-records requests. Then they sued when she tried a bit too vigorously.
“I had questions about her education, and you didn’t answer them,” Solas told the South Kingstown school committee on June 2 in an incident that went viral. “You told me to submit public record requests to answer my questions. I did what you told me, and now you’re holding a public meeting to discuss suing me for doing what you told me to do.”
The teachers’ union defended the move as an effort to protect the “privacy rights” of teachers to indoctrinate children without public oversight. They also pretended to be overwhelmed by the 200 or so requests filed by the mother.
“We are asking the Court to conduct a balancing test to determine whether our members’ privacy rights outweigh the public interest,” said NEARI Deputy Director Jennifer Azevedo. “We believe they do, and those records should either not be disclosed or should be redacted accordingly.”
But an outraged Solas refused to be cowed, sparking a national scandal surrounding the arrogance of union bosses and education officials. “You cannot be employed by the state and also demand immunity from public scrutiny,” she told Fox News. “That’s not how open government works in America. Academic transparency is not a collective bargaining negotiation. It’s a parental right.”
In the second suit, filed in response to the emerging national scandal, the union warned the court that “teachers who are identifiable and have engaged in discussions about things like critical race theory will then be the subject of teacher harassment by national conservative groups opposed to critical race theory.”
In other words, taxpaying citizens and watchdog groups might criticize the increasingly extreme indoctrination of children and the individuals perpetrating these abuses against America’s youth.
Law professor William Jacobson at Cornell University was puzzled by the union’s tactics. “The unions purport to be protecting their members non-public documents and information, but the public records law only applies to ‘public records‘ as defined under the statute,” he was quoted as saying in media reports.
No more public-records requests are needed for every parent in America to see clearly that the nation’s children are being dumbed down, indoctrinated, radicalized, sexualized, and destroyed. While Solas’ willingness to fight is commendable, sometimes “flight” is the better option. With government schools, the only safe option is to get the children out.
