Squad Focuses ‘Magic’ On Impeachment

There is no shortage in the cycle of news that is absurd and aggravating. This is America 2019, after all, so we can always turn our attention to President Donald Trump and accuse him of basically anything. And so the calls for impeachment have been strong this week.

But then there is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who has not been in the news for a few days, and therefore is putting herself into the limelight with all of the usual inaccurate assessments about how our government should structure itself and how the citizens are to live. Now that it is October, Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow Squad members, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) are in full Hocus Pocus Focus mode. Expect this month to be spooky, kooky, and creepy crawly in many ways.

For a woman who has a degree in economics, Ocasio-Cortez continues to show that a piece of paper really does not mean a lot about one’s intellectual capacity. As reported by The Hill on Friday, Sept. 27, Ocasio-Cortez explained her new idea of raising the poverty line in the United States to $38,000.

"Forty million Americans are living in poverty right now, and if the poverty line was real, if it was at what some people think it should be -- about $38,000 a year -- we would be shocked at how much the richest society on the planet is, is allowing so much of its people to live in destitute,” Ocasio-Cortez said to the nation.

But Ocasio-Cortez missed the mark and laid claim that America being the wealthiest it has been has a negative impact, and that we are simply the most unequal. This was done, because in her mind, equality means that together everyone gets nothing.

“The problem is that America is at the wealthiest point that we’ve ever been, and yet we are at one of our most unequal points that we’ve ever been,” she said with a straight face.

Ocasio-Cortez’s issue is that too many people are above the poverty line, so we need to raise the line to put more people into poverty. What she is really doing is relying on everyone not actually researching on their own. They are supposed to blindly listen to her nonsense.

But a simple search on the website for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reveals the poverty line for a one-person household in the United States is $12,490. A household receives an additional $4,420 per person in the house. And then a household can collect all of the governmental goodies: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Medicaid, Head Start, the National School Lunch Program, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, to name but a few.

She cannot and will not see that Americans can make much more money when the nation as a whole is wealthy. The pie of capitalism is not limited, but Ocasio-Cortez and her fellow socialists, like Bernie Sanders, want to limit that pie. This is why she had to come out and defend Sanders’ statement about heavily taxing billionaires.

In a tweet, she clarified a statement that said “Billionaires should not exist,” by claiming that “does not mean certain people should not exist. It means no person should have a billion dollars.”

So for Ocasio-Cortez, no one should be able to earn above a certain amount of money, but they sure as heck better make the minimum amount of money she says. That is her logic. And her girlfriends in Congress agree, to the point that it served as inspiration for why they even became representatives in the House, at least for Omar.

“I am one of 45 million [Americans who owe student debt], and it has been part of my journey and one of the reasons that drove me to run for office,” Omar told an audience at the BET News Town Hall. “I also have a daughter — not only do I have student debt, but I have a daughter that is going to college in two years, and so the realness of this burden that we all feel shackled with has been real for me.”

She could also feel shackled by handcuffs if the campaign finance fraud alleged against her for travel expenses proves true, or the fact that she was fined in 2018 for improperly filing her taxes. And then there is poor Tlaib, who just admitted that there is a House Ethics Committee probe into her self-payments of $17,500 in 2018 after winning her House seat. These women have conducted shady business as representatives in Congress, costing the taxpayers $174,000 per year in base salary, which equates to more than 450 percent above Ocasio-Cortez’s fully made up poverty line.

Yet Americans are to take all of them seriously while also supporting their impeachment claims for President Trump. In the month that will continue to be Hocus Pocus Focus on impeaching the president, remember to pay attention to those putting on that focus, while taking all focus off of their own misdeeds. It is pretty scary.
