Is Hillary ‘Gutsy’ Enough To Run Again?

Lamb Chop sang about the song that never ended, and now Hillary Clinton is playing out her own version in politics.

After running for president in 2008 and losing within her own party to Barack Obama, she then ran in 2016 and won the nomination from the Democrats but lost to Republican Donald Trump in the general election. And now that 2020 is on the horizon, there is Hillary, not officially running, but creating chatter and questions of maybe she will.

Clinton and daughter Chelsea are currently popping up on all news media stations as they promote their book The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience,  which was released by Simon and Schuster on Tuesday, Oct. 1. It immediately shot into the top ten selling books on Amazon, staying there for only a hot second, but remaining number one in the cliché categories of social activist biographies, gender studies, and women in history.

It does not take long to see why. The Clintons wrote mini biographical essays of 103 women they viewed as “gutsy” and shared their own reasonings for why they thought so. There are indeed groundbreaking women chosen for great contributions to society, including Marie Curie, Harriet Tubman, and Sally Ride. But also included are those who are just woke enough for the Clintons, such as Danica Roem, a transwoman (meaning a man), and 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg, whose bio is explained in the Earth Defenders category of the book. As Hillary explained, Thunberg was inspired by the students who used activism after the Parkland shooting. Hillary then wrote that she “is personally invested in seeing climate action succeed.”

The politics is seen all over the book but is actually most prevalently witnessed in Hillary and Chelsea’s interviews on the press junket that are supposed to be about the book, when in fact they all boil down to one topic: Donald Trump. Whether they are on Stephen Colbert, CBS Sunday Morning , or with People Magazine , Donald Trump is the man who Hillary just cannot stop talking about. And she did admitted as much.

“I read people saying these things out there in the so-called real world. ‘Oh my gosh, why doesn’t she stop talking about politics? Why doesn’t she stop talking about Trump?’ I could no more do that than jump off this building,” Hillary said.

Just days before the release of the book, Hillary showed her version of being “gutsy” as she once again claimed the illegitimacy of the Trump presidency, despite his winning of the Electoral College, as is established in Article II, Section 1 of the United States Constitution. This is a little fact that Hillary and her supporters continue to forget.

“I believe he knows he’s an illegitimate president,” she told Jane Pauley on Sunday, Sept. 29 on CBS Sunday Morning.  “He knows. He knows that there were a bunch of different reasons why the election turned out the way it did.”

Though she will never admit it, one of the top reasons is simply that his name is not Hillary Clinton. And yet Hillary’s interests are always of top priority, as evidenced in the very interviews she is participating. She considers herself the one who is all-knowing on what is good for the American people and that it is so very clear in her mind that she was cheated out of the presidency.

“I think it is fair to say we have known who Donald Trump is for some time now,” she told an audience of abortion-rights advocates for NARAL on Thursday, Sept. 26. “We knew he was a corrupt businessman who cheated people. We knew that his campaign invited foreign adversaries to tamper with our elections. And now we know that in the course of his duties as our president, he's endangered us all by putting his personal and political interests ahead of the interests of the American people."

And yet, after all this, it remains possible that Hillary will run for president again. The most recent Rasmussen Reports even has Trump and Clinton racing neck-and-neck in the 2020 election. Despite this, even 59 percent of the Democrats do not want her to enter the race, which oddly goes against Trump’s wish.

Trump tweeted on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in his usual tweeting fashion, stating “I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren. Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her high crimes and misdemeanors including how & why she deleted 33,000 Emails AFTER getting “C” Subpoena!”

Hillary has not squelched the rumors, but has fueled the flames by making the assertion that she could beat Trump “again.”

“Maybe there does need to be a rematch,” Hillary said on PBS News Hour after hearing the tweet from President Trump. “Obviously I can beat him again.”

So the question remains, will she claim to be “gutsy” like those in her book and dare to run again?
