Socialist-Elect Ocasio-Cortez Is Thankful To Spend Your Money
Published : November 19, 2018
It is understandable to feel a bit discouraged and want to revert to the “woe is me” mentality. But, as was apparent in this most recent midterm election, being in that state of mind leads to the election of characters like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
She is the latest representation of an American who has enveloped herself in the mantra that government exists to give people “free” things. Be it socialized medicine, college tuition, the greenest planet anyone has ever seen, or a world map with absolutely no boundaries, Ocasio-Cortez wants the government to dictate who gets what and how much. She has no conception, or at least no care, that the government’s role involving “free” is limited to ensuring the freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution are not overridden.
Over the course of the past year, many words have been heard from Ocasio-Cortez, who will in less than two months’ time be sworn in as the representative from the 14th congressional district of New York. This is a direct result and reality of living in the most free country of the world. Things like this can happen. As proven by Ocasio-Cortez, knowing the three branches of government or caring to uphold the ideas that built this country are not pre-requisite to getting people to vote you into office.
Because this is the most free country, Ocasio-Cortez can hold a degree in economics from Boston University, yet know nothing about economics and can then have a vote as to how everybody’s tax dollars will be spent. When she says that ‘Medicare For All’ will be funded by everyone just paying for it, she speaks her truth, which lacks all truth and logic.
The truth is, she does not understand the spirit of Thanksgiving and being grateful for what one has. Thanksgiving is the time to focus attention away from the self and onto others. But Ocasio-Cortez thinks about what she ultimately wants, which is to take from others and give to groups who she thinks deserve it. There is a clear distinction from being charitable and her intentions. One cannot be charitable when the government is forcing the payment.
For the health of yourself, and quite frankly the health of this country, begin thinking about all for which you are grateful. Because when you are thankful in the good times, you will find comfort in the harder times. Put forth gratitude to others, and you will desire to give to others, not because Ocasio-Cortez and the government order you to do so, but because you want to be charitable. And, remember, if all you can do is say one word to someone, say thanks.
