Hillary’s Back And She’s Bringing Wine

The 2020 candidates are springing forth in rapid succession, but one that has not been talked about with such fervor is the perpetual candidate, Hillary Clinton.

And the question is, should she be discussed?

With all of the border talks and recent government shutdown, little attention has been paid to Clinton, and rightfully so. But during this lead up, Clinton has been doing a bit of fundraising and even more publicity than usual. Her book tour with former president and husband Bill Clinton did not go as planned, as meager crowd size resulted in deep discounts on tickets.

The lack of success may help explain why she is pushing her fundraising endeavor “Join Hillary Clinton for a Broadway Play and Chardonnay.” Partnering with Omaze, Clinton is raising money for Onward Together, an organization “dedicated to building a fairer, more inclusive America.” Clinton started the project after losing to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

Clinton asks for your donation of money in exchange for entries into winning a trip to New York City so the winner and a friend can attend a Broadway show with Clinton, followed by sipping on chardonnay. Entries start at $10 and go all the way up to $20,000, which then includes a meet and greet with the former secretary of state.

Here is the kicker: any donation to the raffle means “you agree to become a member of Onward Together.” This means you will likely be getting emails about donating more money and doing your part in the near future to further those progressive causes that Clinton aims to champion. Some of your money will go to groups that focus on racial justice, LGBT advocacy, and voter participation. Do not put it past her to be requesting campaign donations shortly thereafter.

Clinton’s attempt at being just like everyone else is a step above Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s beer stunt, but not by much. And this semblance of being relatable to the masses makes one wonder whether Clinton is gearing up for yet another run at the presidency.

Will she or won’t she run? In the words of the greatest playwright, Mr. Billy Shakespeare, “That is the question.”
