Trump Recognizes Israel and Makes History
Published : May 18, 2018
Monday, May 14 marked the 70th anniversary of the Israeli’s Declaration of Independence, coinciding with the opening of the American embassy. On May 14, 1948, only 11 minutes after the rebirth of the State of Israel, the United States of America, under President Harry Truman, became the first nation to recognize the State of Israel. And 70 years later, the United States of America, under President Trump, became the first nation of the world to establish its embassy in Israel’s capital, Jerusalem.
“President Trump by recognizing history, you have made history,” said Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel, at the ceremony inaugurating the embassy.
American representatives at the ceremony included Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, along with Republican lawmakers. However, not a single congressional Democrat attended.
Jerusalem has been the spiritual heart and capital of Israel for more than 3,000 years. Jerusalem, commonly interpreted to mean “ city of peace,” has “been destroyed at least twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times.” It is the city of many of the Hebrew prophets, Jewish apostles, and first Jewish followers of the Christian Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth.
On May 15, 1948, the Arab League sent the armies of Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon to invade the land of Israel, calling for the annihilation of the Jews and the elimination of the nation of Israel. Today, Hamas, Hezbollah, and many Muslim nations continue to call for the annihilation of the Jews and the elimination of Israel.
“There is nothing new under the sun,” wrote Solomon, the Jewish king of Israel, almost 3,000 years ago in Ecclesiastes 1:9.
When it comes to the hatred of Israel and the Jewish people, there is nothing new under the sun, as from time immemorial many nations of the world have persecuted the Jews and attempted to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Now the United States of America upholds its Judeo-Christian foundation and follows congressional bipartisan support in the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 in recognizing the wonder of the Israel and its eternal capital Jerusalem.
America and President Trump are loved by millions of Jewish Israelis as they see steadfast devotion to their cause of life and liberty, as well as determination to never again allow a Holocaust.
