Outraged Democrats Trumped By Own Obama-Era Rules
Published : October 12, 2018
"Elections have consequences. And at the end of the day, I won. So I think on that one I trump you,” Obama said behind closed doors to Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA).
This comment of yesteryear may as well have been said in 2018 in regard to the upcoming midterm elections. To better understand the importance of this November’s election, a little history lesson is necessary.
In November 2008, the Democrat Party won an astounding presidential election with a blitzkrieg victory that included both Houses of Congress. They were solidly in charge of two branches of government, and with the help of executive constitutional power they were going to make sure they were in charge of the third branch, the judiciary.
“With a few notable exceptions, [Obama] has appointed some of the most liberal, ideological and radical judges to ever sit on the federal bench,” Heritage Foundation’s Hans A. von Spakovsky wrote at the end of Obama’s eight-year tenure.
He added that lifetime appointments were confirmed for 329 federal judges, which consists of nearly 40 percent of the entire federal judiciary. Democrats controlled everything, and they fed the leftwing-deep state monster like never before, with the expansion of the federal government in a thousand different ways.
To pack the federal circuit courts with hardcore left-wing judges, Senate Democrats used the "nuclear option," ignoring Senate tradition of a 60 vote super-majority. Instead they could confirm judges by a simple majority of senators. Democrats reasoned that they won the election and were not going to let a Republican minority get in their way.
"In the long term, the rule change represents a substantial power shift in a chamber that for more than two centuries has prided itself on affording more rights to the minority party than any other legislative body in the world,” reported Paul Kane in the Washington Post. “Now, a president whose party holds the majority in the Senate is virtually assured of having his nominees approved, with far less opportunity for political obstruction.”
When Democrats were warned by the Republican minority that breaking this protection of the minority party would come to haunt them, they laughed. And then Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States.
In 2017 and 2018 it was goose-gander time and the minority Democrats knew they had created the Republican majority monster. And that leads to recent history involving the confirmation of now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Unable to beat Kavanaugh on the merits of judicial argumentation, parliamentary procedure and Senatorial vote, Democrats stooped to mob activity by falsely accusing him of rape and sexual harassment. The tactic revealed the absolute deplorable level Democrats will go to keep their judicial leftwing power established by Franklin Delano Roosevelt and reinvigorated by Obama.
Democrats know if the Republicans can keep control of Congress, especially the Senate, President Trump will continue to appoint more conservative constitutionalists to the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and district courts. It is not hyperbole to say that this midterm election will have lifetime ramifications.
If Republicans win in November, they will continue to exercise their legitimate democratic constitutional powers, and sadly, Democrats will continue to exercise their illegitimate mobocracy as they fight dirty by lying, cheating, and distorting reality while destroying civility, decency, and America’s legislative process.
A worldview war like never before seen is on the horizon and the importance of the Nov. 6 election is paramount.
Remember, elections have consequences.
